The month before your big day is an exciting time. All the details you’ve planned for a year or more are coming together and finalizing the game plan with your venue and vendors is on the horizon.
Here are 10 tasks to expect to do in the month before your wedding, in no particular order:
- Collect RSVPs and create your guest table assignments.
- Order last-minute paper items such as place cards/seating chart, ceremony programs, menu cards, welcome and/or bar signage.
- Buy your ceremony and reception items such as a unity candle, flower girl baskets, ring pillow, card box, guest book, cake toppers, etc.
- Finalize ceremony readings, ceremony and reception music, and any toasts or speeches.
- Do your final dress/tux/suit fitting and have a plan for pick up or delivery.
- Book any nail/hair/spa appointments you want before the big day (note: do not try a new service, like a chemical peel, too close to the wedding date).
- Give your final guest count to the caterer and venue (and any vendor who needs it).
- Set aside money for vendor gratuities and place each tip in a sealed envelope with the vendor’s name/role on it.
- Get your marriage license (depending on the state, you can do this up to 60 days in advance and up to a day before the wedding, but getting it sometime the month before your wedding date is usually the sweet spot).
- Finalize the wedding day timeline with your venue, vendors and wedding party.
