Are you on the fence if you should have a wedding cake or other dessert or both? The important thing to remember is there’s no wrong answer, but a few things to consider.

A wedding cake is a classic and iconic centerpiece, especially if you’re planning to have a cake cutting tradition during the reception. It’s also a great choice if you love cake (who doesn’t?).  

However, if cake isn’t your thing or go-to sweet (gasp!), or you are looking for something less traditional, choosing a dessert that is more reflective of your taste and style is the way to go. Some couples opt for cookies, cupcakes, donuts—the list of options are endless. 

Here are some factors to think about when it comes to wedding cake or another dessert option:

Guest List – the number of guests attending and will it be adults only or a mix of adults and kids?

Food Service – are you planning to have a plated, family style or buffet meal?

Environment – will the reception be indoors or outdoors?

Preference – what is your aesthetic (cake as a focal point of the room or no?) and is tradition important to you as a couple?

Considering the above factors will help you determine if cake or another dessert is the way to go. Just remember to choose what is right for you!
