A micro wedding is a smaller and more intimate version of a traditional wedding, typically under 50 guests. A micro wedding can and usually does includes elements of a traditional wedding, like a ceremony and a reception, but the focus is on a personalized experience so the couple can spend quality time with each guest. Some compare a micro wedding to an elopement (but with guests).
What are the pros of a micro wedding?
Affordable Budget – A fewer guest count means reduced costs for catering, rentals and more, so the overall wedding budget is lower compared to a traditional wedding.
Guest Experience – Fewer guests to greet means more quality time with loved ones.
More Options – A small guest count means having more choices for location (including destination weddings), venues (including varied and unique spots), décor and more.
Lighter Logistics – A lower guest count means easier planning, fewer details to coordinate and overall less stress.
Priority Emphasis – The wedding budget isn’t stretched among endless guests, vendors and details, so the dollars can be allotted to the specific details that are important to you.
Tradition Flexibility – Less guests count means limited opinions on what you must/should do and more freedom to do what you want to do.
The only real con of a micro wedding is the limited guest list and potential hurt feelings associated with those who are not invited to the event. The primary reason to have a micro wedding is to spend time with your closest loved ones, but it can be hard to decide who to include and exclude on that list.
