Farmington Lake is located in Mokena, Illinois, which is approximately 35 miles southwest of Chicago. The 50-acre estate is stunning to say the least, and it includes a floral welcome gate, vintage garden and charming footbridge that leads to a secluded lakeside meadow where the countryside ceremony site lives. Accommodating up to 200 guests, the site includes large sturdy trees, scenic views of hayfields and white antique doors that reveal hand-painted mismatched farm chairs, curved abbey windows and picturesque sights of the lake under a beautifully crafted arbor. Even the floral sailboat on the lake is gorgeous!

The site also includes a nearby bridal tent. Made with beautiful fabric walls, the delicate tent is fully furnished with a couch, chairs, desk and mirror for the bride and her bridesmaids to use before the ceremony.

You might be wondering, what if it rains on the wedding day? Farmington Lake has a plan b in place for inclement weather. Their rain tent can not only accommodate a couple’s group of guests, but it also has a view of the lake, two floral chandeliers and it’s own decorated arbor.

I can’t help but also mention the lovely people at Farmington Lake. The owners of the property, David and Melanie, have had the farm in their family since 1865! David and Melanie maintain the estate, and Melanie designs the site’s gorgeous details. Their daughter, Alison, is the creative event coordinator who plans each unique ceremony.
From the winding woodland path to the adorned alcove, every wedding hosted at Farmington Lake is thoughtfully designed and implemented to create private and meaningful events shared with family and friends on the countryside. The people, natural elements and handcrafted details of this rustic farm make Farmington Lake one of my favorite spots to host an outdoor wedding ceremony.
